We currently don't offer any. And we need to. It seems like the programs we put out there never have much traction. Are you currently offering any?

Agreed on the need, but can't seem to get much going.

One thing I'm looking into is E-Sports and gaming leagues.

    Following the thread....good topic!

  • My original question was because as of October we stopped offering 5/6 dances (they got too out of control with behavior). So in Newton our schools are divided up a little strange. We have a 5th/6th Grade Center and then Middle School is 7th/8th Grade. The 5/6 center is just down the street from us so we do get a lot of participation from them.

Each year we always offer a 5th Grade Social one Friday evening for 3hrs and then another Friday evening we offer a 6th Grade Social. During these we organize a few "large crowd games" with them, usually do a Dodgeball Tournament (they love this), give them pizza/chips/cookies/drink, and they can also swim (we have an indoor pool at our facility). These always go over well. We hold these in the spring and this coming year we are changing it a little, now they will have to pre-register so we have parent contact information. They used to be able to just show up with their money and go. But with all of the behavior issues we've been having we're trying a pre-registering event instead. We will see if this affects the number attending...

Beginning in January we will be offering 2 DIY Craft Classes (Rock Painting & Face-Body-Lip Scrubs) that will be held on a day they are out of school for 3 to 3 1/2 hours. They will get a pizza lunch and get to swim for an hour as part of the class.

We are also taking two Teen Day Trips (5th - 8th grade) on days they are out of school. We are going to The Arcade & All Star Sports (both in Wichita).

I have no idea if these will be successful since this age group always wants something to do but don't sign up. We shall see!! :)
